Virtual Designs – See your new landscape before it becomes a reality!
Let’s face it – many of us can’t see a “design” from a piece of paper with circles and squares to represent plants and trees. That’s why HOAG Industries has invested in landscape software to help our customers visualize their landscape design before the transformation takes place.
With just a digital picture of your property, we can add and delete features to show you inspiration and help you decide what’s best for you. You can see first-hand any landscape design – from sod, plants, trees, sidewalks, patios, retaining walls, pergolas, swimming pools, outdoor lighting, outdoor kitchens and more!
Lawn – The most defining part of your yard
Your lawn is important. It allows for the dissipation of heat from your house and surroundings while protecting it against erosion runoff. With the Southeast’s poor soil conditions, sod is the best way to produce an instant lawn. Sod can adapt more quickly to your yard and soil, compared to previous methods of seed and straw. However, seed and straw are still used for temporary erosion control.
Bermuda, Centipede, Meyer Zoysia, Emerald Zoysia and St. Augustine are warm season grasses commonly used in the Southeast. These types of sod thrive in hot and humid conditions and hibernate in colder months, turning light brown until warmer temperatures approach in the spring.
Turf Type Fescue is a cool season grass that can grow in the Southeast and remain green all year long. Seed and sod applications are available, but it must be planted in the late fall in order for the roots to establish before the warmer summer months. For those considering this type of grass, it’s important to note that cool season grasses in warm, humid climates are very susceptible to fungal diseases and require overseeding each year to promote new growth.
Plants – Think of growth and watering needs
Plant selection is very important. Plants that are non-native for this area may require more watering or care than plants native to this climate. That’s where an expert in landscape services can help.
We can recommend plants that will work best with the climate, soils that are good and rich for the plants, and mulching to help build your beautiful landscapes. Mulch helps to protect roots from overexposure to the sun and retain moisture for proper growth. Mulch is comprised of all-natural products and thus, bio-degradable. As it degrades, it will break down soil to produce organic-rich materials that are vital to your plants’ growth.
Hardwood mulch is what we recommend and install on our projects to help plants and bedding materials. This mulch is available in a variety of colors and textures to match your landscape design.
Drainage – A problem or solution
Improper drainage can be the cause of many problem areas on your property, such as foundation settling or lifting, excessive insect problems, mold or create areas where plants or sod can’t grow. The good news is that improper drainage can be corrected. French drain, drain tile installation or channeling can promote proper flow of run-off materials. Our specialists can help you isolate your drainage problems and recommend solutions.
